Tya Alisa Anthony explores themes of Identity through photography, mined media and charged objects. Anthony’s identity-focused works offer exploration in both the shared and diverse experiences of Contemporary Western Culture. While approaching socially illuminated topics involving people of color, the core of Anthony's experimental work exists within research, collage, and abstraction. It’s Anthony's intention to create works that explore the intersections of humanity while creating a space of autonomy and regard for bodies of color.

Baltimore, Maryland row homes soon to be demolished throughout the city in order to make space for residential developers. photographed in 2019. Digital photography revisited through alternative digital manipulation. This series serves as a collage ideated during the Global Pandemic of 2020 and Covid 19 mandatory stay at home order.

Baltimore, Maryland, home of “The Wire’ continues tearing down a little under 17,000 abandoned row homes after many decades of social decline in the inner city. Baltimore has planned a $94million project to tear down neighborhoods at a time of the 17,000 abandoned homes in various stages.

Of the 17,000 dilapidated deteriorating structures, more than 800 crumbling homes have been razed and turned into green spaces

The trash invested empty homes, riddled with asbestos and lead paint, came to symbolize the deep social divide in Baltimore

Areas are planned to be green spaces for now, but will be developed into new neighborhoods in the future.

Revisiting the photographs originally intended for a black and white collection during the Covid-19 Global pandemic acted as a connection to processing my personal grief and release of the loss of my father who passed away in the very beginning of the pandemic.

The Art Of Being Natural

A documentary pertaining to Urban Naturals in the Denver, Colorado area. Each individual has chosen to refrain from using dangerous yet common chemicals, products nor ingest processed foods in their every day life. The Mile High City (5280) participants have chosen to live organically through nutrition, lifestyle, and most importantly to this exploratory project, personal hair style.

Havana, CUBA where wifi and a cool breeze are rarely available. I gather with groups of residents at night, seen sitting in parks, doorways and stairwells for hours across the city attempting to log in, tweet, gram, snap, and google with the rest of the "connected world." It wasn’t until 2015, that Cuba opened access to dozens of wifi zones across Havana.
